- Serves caregivers age 18 and over residing in Stark, Summit, Portage and Wayne Counties. - For respite services, care recipient must be age 60 or over and need help with two (2) or more activities of daily living or need substantial supervision due to a mental impairment such as dementia.
Current hours: Call during regular office hours Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm. Services are available by appointment only.

Assists caregivers in the challenges they face as they care for a loved one. Available help includes online and written resources, support group that meets virtually/by phone weekly, reimbursement for limited and temporary respite care, educational workshops, and speaking events.

Direction Home Akron Canton Area Agency On Aging And Disabilities

Plans, funds, and coordinates services for older persons and persons with disabilities in Portage, Stark, Summit, and Wayne counties to live with dignity and choices in their homes and communities for as long as possible. Administers PASSPORT, MyCare Ohio, The Assisted Living Waiver, The Ohio Home Care Waiver, Care Coordination, Elder Rights, Family Caregiver Support Program, Nursing Home Placement Assistance Program, and other services designed to help older adults and individuals with functional limitations maintain independence. Provides funds for services administered by other community agencies including client finding, specialized information and referral, transportation, home-delivered meals, medical treatment, personal care, respite care, safety monitoring, health assessments, congregate meals, recreational activities, and adult day care.
