- No restrictions for receiving election information. -To vote in an upcoming election an individual must be registered to vote. The voter must register to cast an absentee ballot or visit their assigned precinct and polling location on Election Day. The voter must bring identification to the polls in order to vote a regular ballot on Election Day.

The polling notice mailed to registered voters by the board of elections CANNOT be used as proof of identification. - Acceptable forms of identification include current and valid photo ID, such as Ohio drivers license or state ID card. Photo identification must show name and current address (Ohio driver licenses and State ID cards do not need to show current address if the address in the poll book is current) or a military identification that shows the voter’s name (does not need to show address). - NOTE: Voters who do not provide one of the above documents will still be able to vote. Voters who do not have any of the above forms of identification, will still be able to vote by signing an affirmation swearing to the voter’s identity under penalty of election falsification and by casting a provisional ballot. If identification is not provided at the time the provisional ballot is cast, the provisional voter may provide a valid form of identification in person at the Board of Elections during the four (4) days following Election Day.
