WORKERS COMPENSATION | OHIO BUREAU OF WORKERS' COMPENSATION

Coordinates a disability insurance program mandated by the state and funded by employer contributions. Provides compensation to covered employees for loss of their earnings as a result of an accidental injury or occupational disease sustained during employment, or which compensates dependents in case of a work-related death. NOTE: The program may provide for assistance including income replacement and supplement; scheduled awards for loss of sight or hearing, dismemberment or disfigurement; vocational rehabilitation, occupational therapy, and retraining to enable a possible return to the workforce; and funeral expenses.

Administers Ohio’s workers’ compensation system which is made up of two (2) parts: Bureau of Workers' Compensation (BWC), which is the administrative and insurance arm of the system, and the Industrial Commission of Ohio, which is the claims adjudicative arm.
