The Re-Entry program provides guidance and assistance for Reentry - puzzle pieces - Copy (2) returning citizens who are preparing to leave the prison system, as well as those who have been out of incarceration for any length of time. The goal is to help individuals rebuild independent lives so they can avoid the situations and difficulties that led them to incarceration. The program initiative is designed to increase public safety, lower local law enforcement costs and reduce our local recidivism rate. Athens County has seen success in reducing the recidivism rate of the returning citizens who have worked with the resources and services of the reentry program. Programs and services offered include:
  • One-on-one meetings before and after leaving incarceration
  • Assistance with navigating community programs including: healthcare, public assistance, community resources, mental health programs, substance abuse & treatment programs, educational opportunities, employment services and other services.
  • Assistance with employment skill set development and employment searches
  • Offering workshops and seminars on a variety of reentry topics.
