To be eligible to obtain a Domestic Violence Order (DVO) or Interpersonal Protective Order (IPO), the person alleged to have committed the abuse must have either:
  • physically injured/assaulted, strangled, sexually abused/assaulted, or stalked the requester or a child
  • threatened to physically injure or assault the requester or a child
  • done something to place the requester or a child in fear of imminent physical injury, serious physical injury, sexual abuse, strangulation, or assault
  • abused a household pet as a method to coerce, control, punish, intimidate, or take revenge against the requester or a child
  • done something to place the requester or a child in fear of imminent abuse of a household pet as a method to coerce, control, punish, intimidate, or take revenge against the requester or a child
