Divorce Legal Assistance | Legal Aid Society Of Cleveland - Lorain County Office
Evaluates cases whether filing a divorce or having been served with divorce papers, provided hearing date is more than 14 days away, and where one of the following is true: - The applicant or minor child has experienced an incident of abuse within the last 60 days; - The abuser has threatened to kill or physically harm applicant or commit suicide within the last 60 days coupled with physical violence in the past year; - The abuser is subject to charges or protection order for offense of violence within the past 60 days or a CPO has been issued against abuser; - The abuser is incarcerated for offense of violence and has made new threats of abuse to applicant and incarceration will end in less than 12 months; - Cases where the relationship was not abusive, the parties do not have minor children, there are no joint assets or debts and the parties have been living apart for at least 1 year.
