Eligibility
Must reside in a low-income military or Veteran household (see specific criteria below). Unable to provide financial assistance towards expenses that are not yet due or delinquent.
MUST meet one of the following criteria:
Deployed Criteria (eligible for all types of financial assistance):
A service member of rank E1-E6 and one of the following:
- Currently deployed to an overseas location and receiving Hostile Fire Pay.
- Assigned to a ship that has been at sea for 30 or more days and is en route to theater, forward deployed, or otherwise on a mission status (not a training status).
- On unaccompanied, overseas PCS orders and receiving Hostile Fire Pay.
- Will deploy to an overseas Hostile Fire Pay theater in the next 90 days.
- Has returned from an overseas Hostile Fire Pay theater within the past 180 days.
- Actively served in the United States military post-9/11, and
- Suffered a post-9/11 wound, illness, or injury in the line of duty (LOD).
- If discharged, must have received an Honorable or General (Under Honorable Conditions (discharge) and be within 10 years of separation.
- An active duty service member of rank E1-E6 with DEERS-eligible dependents.
Required documents
All Clients:
- Completed online application.
- Proof of all household income (most recent LES or RAS, civilian pay, disability benefits, and so forth).
- Military ID.
- Copy of deployment orders.
- Line of Duty documentation or other official record of a wound, illness, or injury being sustained in the line of duty.
- DD214 (if discharged).

Provides financial assistance to low-income active United States military personnel (all branches of service) currently deployed overseas and to low-income post 9/11 Veterans with a wound, illness, or injury received in the line of duty (LOD). Accepted reasons for financial assistance include mortgage assistance, rent assistance, home repairs, utility assistance, auto payments, travel and transportation, moving assistance, essential home items (appliances such as washer, dryer, refrigerator, and stove), medical expense assistance, emergency dental assistance, critical baby items, and other financial assistance. Offers emergency financial assistance for food and vision care (for dependents) to active duty service member with rank of rank E1-E6 with DEERS-eligible dependents.
Note: Does NOT provide financial assistance for credit card debt or personal loans and does NOT assist with down payments for vehicles or homes.
