Agency owns 243 units in Geauga County: Bainbridge (Strickland Arms) has 30 family units; Newbury (Scranton Woods) has 38 family units; Middlefield (Cloverdale Estates) has 49 family units; Chardon has two facilities - Murray Manor with 76 units and Harris House with 50 units.

Application process

Walk in to apply or may download application from web site and then mail in. If clients are elderly, handicapped or have difficulty with transportation, they may have a representative fill out the application for them.

Fee

Rent is generally no more than 30% of the family's adjusted gross income, up to a flat ceiling rent for each unit.

Eligibility

Applicant must have adjusted gross family income within federally designated low-income limits (less than or equal to 80% of the median household income for the area). They must agree to comply with the GMHA lease agreement and must have a Social Security number or documentation supporting its non-existence. Must be in good standing and not have any overdue balances with GMHA or any other subsidized housing program in which they have participated in the past. For family units only: client must be able to get gas and electric utilities in their name (a credit check will be done to verify this). Preference points are given to in upward mobility programs such as employment programs, school, counseling, etc.; veterans or widows of veterans; those 62 years of age or older, and those receiving Social Security Disability, SSI Disability or any other payments because of an inability to work: and/or domestic violence. If two or more applicants have the same amount of preference points, then the date and time of application are considered in the ranking. Must pass criminal background check.
