Walk In Voting On Election Day | Geauga County Board Of Elections

Provides opportunity for people to vote in person in the precinct closest to their home. Counties that have touch screen voting must provide paper ballots if voters request them. If voters make a mistake on their ballots as they are voting, they may request up to 2 additional ballots (but can only submit one).

Polling place hours on election day are: 6:30am-7:30pm. The general election is typically held the Tuesday after the first Monday in November. Primaries (to nominate candidates) are generally held on the first Tuesday of the month they occur in. Phone for information M-F: 8:00am-4:30pm. Other elections may be scheduled during the year, but polling place times remain the same.

Application process

Voters must vote in the polling place that serves the address on their voter registration. Phone M-F: 8:00am-4:30pm, or visit web site for election dates and for correct precinct polling place to cast ballot. For election day voting, walk in to the polling place on the scheduled day (usually the first Tuesday of November for the general election) 6:30am-7:30pm. Primary election dates vary.Those walking in to vote without required documents may vote a provisional ballot, which will be counted when verification of voter registration is made. Those voting a provisional ballot on election day in a precinct other than the one assigned to them will not have their ballot counted. Poll workers will provide information on how to verify documents in order to ensure provisional ballots are counted. Those in line at the conclusion of voting hours on election day or on any day of early voting will be allowed to vote.

Eligibility

Must be a Geauga County resident, registered 30 days before an election, aged 18 on or before the day of the general election and not currently incarcerated for a felony. Voters who have moved since they last voted must be registered at their new address 30 days before the election in order to vote. Must be a resident of Ohio for at least 30 consecutive days immediately before the election in which they want to vote. Ex-offenders convicted of felonies who re-registered to vote following their release from prison are eligible to vote. 17 year-olds who meet the above criteria may vote in a primary for candidates only.
