Eligibility
Serves Veterans with visual impairments or blindness that meet the following criteria:
  • Is legally blind.
  • Has completed Orientation and Mobility Training.
  • Is physically able to care for a dog and walk at least one (1) mile per day.
  • Is financially able to care for a dog (such as paying for food and veterinary care).

Provides and trains individuals in the use of guide dogs for Veterans. The guide dogs have been trained to help individuals who have visual impairments or blindness increase their mobility and independence and/or maximize their ability to communicate effectively.
