HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION | CUYAHOGA COUNTY FISCAL OFFICER
Provides reductions in property taxes for eligible homeowners in the county. Reduction is calculated by exempting the first $25,000 of value on the property in question. Will answer questions and assist with completing forms regarding the reduction. Also offers one-day community events to explain qualifications and to help with completing applications.

Application process
Phone or walk in for information and an application. Applications must be filed by December 31st of the year Homestead is being applied. Those currently receiving the exemption who have recently moved must fill out a transfer form during the application period with their new address.

Eligibility
In order to be eligible, total household income for the 2023 tax year cannot exceed $38,600. Adults 65 and older who own and occupy a home in Cuyahoga County. Persons aged 18 and older who are permanently disabled and spouses aged 59 and older of deceased individuals who previously received the exemption are also eligible to apply. Surviving Spouse of a Public Service Officer killed in the line of duty. Must own and occupy the home as primary residence as of January 1st of the year in which the exemption is being sought.
