Mediation | Akron Municipal Court
Provides a means for litigants to informally resolve their disputes through mediation. The mediator's role is as a facilitator of communication not as a judge deciding right or wrong. Possible cases for mediation include breach of contract claims, claims for property damage, and landlord-tenant issues. Requested monetary damages cannot exceed $3,000. Mediation is available in person, by phone, email, or virtually.

Has jurisdiction in misdemeanor criminal cases where the maximum sentence is one year in jail and a fine of not more than $2,500. Also handles the initial stages of felony proceedings prior to trial. In civil matters this jurisdiction is limited to cases where the monetary claim requested by either party is not more than $15,000.
