Victim Support - Sexual Abuse | Adena Health System

Provides support, assistance and legal education to survivors of rape, sexual assault or sexual abuse when survivors choose to prosecute the offenders. Explains the legal aspects of rape and assault (but does not give legal advice), facilitates communication between client and other parties such as police and the courts, helps clients write Victim Impact Statements, and assists with dealing with the Ohio Parole Board. Helps clients access programs for victims of crimes in the State of Ohio and makes referrals to lawyers. Adena's Victim Services include the following: Adult and Pediatric Forensic Evidence Kit Collection; Forensic Photography; Information and Referrals; Emergency Medical / Forensic Exam; Accompaniment; Emotional Support for survivors and co’survivors; Crisis Intervention Services: Safety Planning and Shelter Placement; STD/I Prophylactics; HIV Prophylactics; Plan B; Interpretation Services.

Application process

The Emergency Department offers services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and Victim Advocates and Forensic Nurses to provide one-on-one trauma-informed victim-centered care to survivors of interpersonal violence. May phone intake line for an appointment M-F: 9:00am-5:00pm or phone the hotline 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Children, women and men who have experienced interpersonal violence such as sexual and/or domestic violence, child or elder abuse, human trafficking, and/or a hate crime.
