Eligibility
New Directions’ sexual assault services are available to anyone impacted by sexual violence, including survivors, their family members, and support persons. Services are open to individuals—whether the assault occurred recently or in the past.
All services are free, confidential, and voluntary. Survivors do not need to have reported to law enforcement to receive help.

. An advoctae will respond by phone or email. If you go to Knox Community Hospital for a medical exam following a sexual assault, the Forensic Nurse Team will contact New Directions and an advocate will respond to the hospital to provide confidential support and assistance.

to connect directly with a trained advocate. These services offer immediate, confidential assistance including crisis intervention, safety planning and referrals to ongoing support and resources.
New Directions also offers hospital accompaniment for survivors choosing to seek medical attention or forensic evidence collection following an assault. Advocates can meet survivors at the hospital to provide emotional support, explain options and ensure that their rights and choices are respected throughout the process.
