Disaster Distress Helpline (ddh) | Vibrant Emotional Health
Provides crisis counseling & emotional support to anyone experiencing distress or other behavioral health concerns related to natural or human-caused disasters. Professional counselors assist with persistent anxiety, feelings of fear, frustration or helplessness, and other depression-like symptoms. Offers information on common stress reactions and healthy coping skills, as well as referrals to local disaster-related resources for follow-up care and support.

Target population: Individuals and families impacted by any natural (hurricanes, earthquakes, floods, wildfires, drought, tornadoes, storms, extreme heat, blizzards; public health emergencies; etc.) or human-caused (shootings, terrorism, other incidents of mass violence; transportation disasters; chemical emergencies; etc.), including: Disaster survivors (living or working in areas impacted by disasters); First responders, rescue and recovery workers (at all levels of disaster preparedness, response and recovery; including staff and volunteers); Loved ones of disaster victims (including pet loss/bereavement)

Provides a 24-hour, nationwide, suicide prevention hotline. Callers are routed to the nearest accredited crisis centers in their area (over 150 certified crisis centers across the United States.) Crisis Chat Service routes chat visitors to a subnetwork of crisis centers accredited in providing online emotional support. Offers immediate crisis services as well as referrals to mental health services.
