Court handles traffic, misdemeanor criminal and civil cases and initial court appearances and preliminary hearings on felony cases. Judges conduct Specialized Dockets in drug and alcohol cases, domestic violence cases, mental health cases and veterans cases. Performs civil marriage ceremonies on the last Wednesday of each month pending schedule availability. Small claims court exists to assist laypersons (non-attorneys) in resolving minor disputes involving amounts less than $6000. Jury trials are not allowed and cases are heard by a Magistrate. Probation is assigned through the Municipal Court System.

Mansfield Municipal Court has jurisdiction over all of Richland County, with the exception of Shelby, Shiloh, Plymouth (Richland County) and six Northern Townships. The Court handles traffic, misdemeanor criminal and civil cases.
