COMPLAINT INVESTIGATION - CUYAHOGA COUNTY GOVERNMENT | CUYAHOGA COUNTY AGENCY OF INSPECTOR GENERAL

Accepts reports of waste, fraud, theft, and other incidents of misusing public funds or suspected breaches of ethics involving elected officials or employees in eligible government agencies. Investigates and reports findings to entities who have authority to act on information reported by this agency. Issues reports and may recommend changes in county rules if investigations uncover problems system-wide. This is not a law enforcement agency.

Call or leave message. May also make reports online. Staff will evaluate the report and, if warranted, open an investigation. If investigation shows probable cause, will refer the matter for prosecution if criminal conduct or for disciplinary proceedings if violations of agency rules or ethical sanctions if ethics violations are discovered.

No restrictions for those contacting to report situation. Takes inquiries regarding agencies of Cuyahoga County government who are under the Executive's Office. Accepts inquiries regarding officials elected to offices in County government and their employees. Investigates inquiries regarding organizations and businesses that contract with Cuyahoga County government. Excludes the courts or agencies that have boards. Agency has no authority to investigate allegations concerning federal, municipal or local officials, agencies, or governing bodies.
