WASTEWATER REGULATION/MONITORING | CITY OF NEWARK DIVISION OF PUBLIC SERVICE

The Division of Wastewater is responsible for treating and returning environmentally clean, safe water back to the Licking River. Additionally, the Division is responsible for maintaining the collection system, which consists of approximately 238 miles of sanitary and combined sewers, 17 lift stations and over 5000 manhole structures. The Division is also responsible for monitoring discharges into the system from industrial and commercial users for compliance with federal regulations as well as local ordinances.

Office is responsible for budgeting, personnel, purchasing, interception of citizen complaints for the department, and management of right of way and utilities such as Water, Sewer and Storm. In addition it is responsible for the maintenance of municipal buildings. The office produces new ordinances as needed to address situations that arise from City growth in addition to routine service contracts, equipment leases, etc.
