ADULT DAY PROGRAMS | CENTER FOR DISABILITY SERVICES
Providing adults with developmental disabilities support and opportunities to improve employability, independence, and self-confidence. Services are provided in the community and at two locations in Newark and Mount Vernon. Adult Day Services is a skill development and work experience program that empowers individuals to set and work toward personal goals, develop and maintain daily living skills and be involved in their community. ADS promotes independence and community inclusion through hands-on education and training, ensuring their ability to experience and participate in community living. With a "hands on" approach to skill development, the staff promote daily living skills that help improve self-determination and independence for living and working in the community. Skill development lessons and activities are based on the needs and choices of each participant. Our adult day service program offers many diverse opportunities to explore the community through activities and visiting places of interest. Skill development services help people with disabilities improve employability, live as independently as possible in the community, participate in community-based social and recreational activities, maintain positive mental health and stay more physically fit.
