Also investigates mortgage fraud (falsifying documents--includes false property appraisals, false statements regarding income and other personal facts, etc. when applying for a home loan), kidnapping, bank robberies, Internet crime, organized crime, hate crimes, and public corruption. Mortgage fraud investigation is part of a task force with the county prosecutor and other law enforcement officials. Internet crime is any illegal activity involving one or more components of the Internet (chat rooms, web sites, and/or e-mail).
