Patriot Program (pro Bono Attorney General's Assistance) | Ohio Attorney General's Office

Provides volunteer attorneys that offer legal assistance to personnel of the armed forces who are enlisted in the reserves or National Guard and are currently activated, or are on active duty. Assists enlisted personnel and their families in exercising their rights under the Soldiers' and Sailors Civil Relief Act. Also, will provide legal assistance for wills, powers of attorney, living wills, and durable power of attorney for health care. Will not assist with legal matters such as divorce and child custody (does not represent in court).

Phone M-F: 8:00am-7:00pm. Will need to give full name, branch of service, full address, phone number, and type of legal assistance needed. Client will be contacted by an attorney or administrator in their area (most will be connected with someone in the Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati, or Toledo area).

Ohio Attorney General's Office

Acts as attorney for the State of Ohio and its departments, boards, and agencies and is responsible for the collection of debts owed to the state. The Attorney General's Office has enforcement authority in areas empowered by the General Assembly. These areas include: consumer protection, charitable solicitation, antitrust actions, and organized crime. The office works with local law enforcement agencies at their request and occasionally, at the invitation of local prosecutors, the Office will serve as special prosecutors in criminal cases.
