Offers general mental health counseling and for specific issues: sexual trauma counseling related to military service (military sexual assault), post traumatic stress disorder due to combat service, veteran reintegration counseling, couseling for victims of spousal/partner abuse, and bereavement couseling. Counseling may be offered in individual and group settings. Does not deal with legal issues.

Application process

Phone for information/appointment during hours of service (there is a second phone number listed for after-hours/weekends). If they have not already done so, Veterans should register for Veterans Benefits before they seek service, if they have not already done so. However, enrollment with the VA is not required at Vet Centers.

Eligibility

Serves Veterans and active duty service members (including National Guard and Reserves) who have served in any combat theater or area of hostility as well as those who have had at least one of the following experiences: experienced a military sexual trauma; provided direct emergent medical care or mortuary services while on active duty yp casualties of war; served as a member of an unmanned arial drome crew that provided direct support to operations in a combat zone or area of hostility; any Vietnam veterans who have accessed the Vet Center prior to 2004. Vet Center services are also provided to family members of Veterans and Service members for military related issues when it is found aid in the readjustment of those that have served. This includes bereavement counseling for families who experience an active duty death. Veterans do not have to be enrolled with the VA for free services at Vet Centers.
