Phone for more information and to apply. Information can also be found on the website (there is no online application). If eligible, a check will be sent by mail, or funds by direct deposit, depending on which option is choosen when applying for assistance. NOTE: FEMA is using an interactive technology for those applying for funeral assistance and calling with questions on the program. This technology, known as an intelligent virtual agent, uses artificial intelligence to engage with a person. The virtual agent may also transfer and connect individuals with a live agent who will help them apply for assistance or respond to questions about their application.

Eligibility
Must meet the following conditions: The death must have occurred in the United States, including the U.S. territories, and the District of Columbia. The death certificate must indicate the death was attributed to COVID-19. The applicant must be a U.S. citizen, non-citizen national, or qualified alien who incurred funeral expenses after January 20, 2020. There is no requirement for the deceased person to have been a U.S. citizen, non-citizen national, or qualified alien. Not able to duplicate benefits received from burial or funeral insurance, financial assistance received from voluntary agencies, government agencies, or other sources. Must not have insurance that would cover all funeral expenses.
