WIC helps income-eligible pregnant and breastfeeding women, women who recently had a baby, infants, and children up to five years of age. All caregivers are welcome. WIC offers support to anyone who is eligible, including caregivers of children such as: the child's parents, grandparents, foster parents, step-parents, and guardians. Must be a resident of the State of Ohio. Eligibility is based on family size and an income within 185% of Federal Poverty Income Guidelines. Individuals receiving Medicaid, Ohio Works First, or Food Stamps automatically meet income eligibility.

Description

Provides nutrition education, breastfeeding education and support; supplemental, highly nutritious foods such as cereal, eggs, cheese, milk, whole grain foods, fruits and vegetables, and iron-fortified infant formula which are provided on a WIC Nutrition EBT Card. Also provides referrals to prenatal and pediatric health care and other maternal and child health and human service programs. The WIC Farmers' Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) is a dual purpose program which benefits both WIC participants and farmers. In the program, WIC participants are given $30 in coupons to purchase authorized fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs from authorized farmers at farmers' markets and farm stands.
