Application process
Veterans should register for VA health benefits before they seek service, if they have not already done so (Veterans can apply in-person at any VA Hospital or business office). Phone for information 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Veterans who need more assistance with determining their eligibility for these services should contact their County Veterans Service Commission for Benefits Assistance or if preferred, other agencies that provide it (search term: Benefits and Services Assistance*Veterans).

Eligibility
Serves eligible veterans. The VA urges all veterans to enroll to determine basic eligibility. A veteran includes any person who served in active military service and who was discharged or released under conditions other than dishonorable as well as active-duty veterans and reservists/national guardsmen who served on active duty. The level of benefits granted will depend on when the Veteran served and the nature and duration of their service.
