SISTERHOOD / SUMMER OF SISTERHOOD | WEST SIDE COMMUNITY HOUSE

Provides an after school learning lab with computers, reading materials, and tutors. Overall focus is on literacy. Includes: service learning, college and career exploration, health and wellness, social skills and self-esteem, recreation trips, among other services. Also offers a competitive summer arts program where girls work with professional artist/teachers in several areas of the arts including: music and poetry composition, creative writing, dance, acting, or graphic design. Girls write music and lyrics, choreograph, perform, and record a CD of their work. Live performance at end of summer.

Eligibility

No geographical restrictions. Females ages 10 to 18. Summer programming requires an audition. Regular participants in Sisterhood school year and prior participants in Summer of Sisterhood are given priority. There is space for 35 participants.
