Emergency Financial Assistance | Franklin County Veterans Service Commission

For veterans, dependents of veterans, and survivors. Provides short-term financial assistance covering rent/mortgage, utilities, and food; dental and vision care; and other types of financial assistance on an as-needed basis. All funds are issued directly to the service provider. Can apply every 30 days.

Visit website - https://vets.franklincountyohio.gov for the Financial Assistance application. Walk-in, same day appointments are not currently available. Requests for appointment can be made using: https://vets.franklincountyohio.gov/appointment-request Applications and documents can be e-mailed to [email protected] or faxed to 614-525-2505. A drop box is available inside Memorial Hall, 280 E. Broad Street, Columbus, OH 43215.

Eligibility

Must be a resident of Franklin County for a minimum of 90 days, and meet one of the eligibility requirements: be a dependent or survivor of the veteran; have veterans discharge under honorable conditions; be a current active duty member, be a Veteran with VA recognized service-connected conditions, been called to active duty by Presidential Order. Veterans must meet one of the category definitions under Section 5901 of the Ohio Revised Code (i.e. spouse, widow, widower, dependent eligibility determined by veteran status).
