Must meet the following to qualify for the program: - Have not owned or had an ownership interest in a primary residence in the last three (3) years. - Meet specific income and purchase price limits. - Earned an associate's, bachelor's, master's, doctorate, or other post-secondary degree within the last 18 months from an accredited college or university. - Have a credit score of 640 or higher. NOTE: Credit score requirements may be higher for different loan types. Check with lender for specific credit score requirements.

Gives approved applicants an opportunity to qualify for a grant of 3% for conventional loans or 3.5% for government loans (FHA, VA, or USDA) of the home's purchase price. Note: Grant may cover some of the up-front cost, borrowers may still be required to contribute some money as well. The assistance is forgiven after five (5) years and must be paid back if the home is sold within five (5) years.

Description

Offers recent college graduates, including those earning postgraduate degrees, a down payment and closing cost assistance and a favorable mortgage interest rate through Ohio Housing Finance Agency's (OHFA) Grants for Grads Program. Gives eligible borrowers the ability to use the grant to reduce out-of-pocket expenses associated with buying a home. OHFA partners with a variety of lenders including banks, mortgage companies, and credit unions throughout the state.
