Eligibility
  • Serves homeowners age 62 and over OR individuals age 18 and over with a diagnosed disability.
  • Must be low-income. Household income must be 50% of Area Median Income.
  • Homeowner must occupy the home and property must be in homeowner's name.
  • Homeowner must have owned the home for at least one (1) year.
  • Homeowner must be current on property tax payments and homeowner's insurance.
  • Home must be a single or double-unit.
  • Homeowner must reside in Cuyahoga, Portage, Stark, and Summit counties.
  • Mobile homes are not eligible.
Required documents
  • Must complete an application.
  • Documentation of income for all in household.
  • Identification for applicant and any co-applicants (birth certificate or government issued Photo ID).

Call the office or visit the website for more information or to request an application. Applications accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis until program capacity reached.

Provides a general home safety inspection. Reviews other safety measures the homeowner may be able to complete on their own. Based on the results of the inspection, volunteers may do the following:
  • Install handrails.
  • Install or repair steps.
  • Install CO2 or smoke detectors.
  • Install grab bars and other safety equipment.
  • Enhance lighting.
  • Check the furnace filter.
  • Repair broken windows (boarding up window or minor repairs).
  • Reviews other safety measures the homeowner may be able to complete on their own.
