Juvenile Firestoppers Program | Akron Children'S Hospital

Provides education through a series of videos, games, lectures, discussions, and other activities to children who engage in some form of firesetting activity. Conveys the three (3) P’s of fire safety: Prevention, Protection and Persuasion.

Application process

Children may be enrolled by their parents or through police or court referrals. Akron Children’s staff conducts an initial screening interview with each child and parent(s). This interview provides a brief psychological, social and emotional evaluation of the child and family, as well as a history of the child’s fire-setting behaviors.

No fee.

Eligibility

Serves youth ages 3 to 17 residing in Summit, Stark, Portage and surrounding counties such as Wayne, Holmes, Ashland and Mahoning counties.

Languages

Utilizes language interpretation services.
