Emergency Home Repair | City Of Mansfield - Mansfield Community Development
Provides and administers the Community Development Block Grants. Works with the intent of assisting persons of low and moderate income, (regardless of their financial means) to live in a decent, safe, and sanitary environment by eliminating urban blight and detrimental living conditions. Provides funding for home rehabilitation. Common examples of housing services we have assisted with in the past: roofing and gutters, porches and stairs, water heaters, furnaces, exterior doors, and electric upgrades. The financial limit for an emergency rehab project is $22,500.

Call for wait list and initial qualifying information. Once complete household will be put on a first-come, first-serve waiting list.

Eligibility
Before an individual can be deemed eligible to receive assistance the following criteria may be satisfied: * Must be the current owner of record of the property and occupy said property. * Must be current on all property taxes and/or be on a payment plan. * Property must not be subject to a land contract. * Must be current on the property's mortgage. * Must have all utilities in their name and must be current or on a payment plan for said utilities. * Must have insurance on the property. * Must not be located in a flood plain. * Must meet all income guidelines a provided by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development. * Must not have received a full rehab on the property in the last fifteen years. * Must not have received an emergency rehab in the past twelve months or a total of three emergency rehabs in the past ten years. * Clear of any bankruptcy filings for the last 24 months. * Must qualify financially based on current HUD income limits * Must be current on their City of Mansfield income tax and/or be on a payment plan. * Must not have any outstanding violations form the City of Mansfield Bureau of Building, Inspections, Licenses and * Permits, unless said violation(s) is in relation to the component(s) to be repaired. * If applicant has any liens on the property they must be current on a payment plan. * Must not have any outstanding warrants for their arrest. * Must make sure the area in which the repair will take place is free of junk, debris, or excessive household belongings. * It is within the discretion of the Director of Community Development and Housing to waive one or more of the above stated criteria, if emergency circumstances exist and if allowable by US Department of Housing and Urban Development.
