RICHLAND COUNTY PROJECT LIFESAVER | OHIO DISTRICT 5 AREA AGENCY ON AGING
Uses state-of-the art technology in assisting those who care for victims of Alzheimer's and other Related Mental Dysfunctional Disorders (ARMD) and victims who become lost. These victims include the elderly and even the youngest in our community who are afflicted with Down syndrome, Autism or developmental disorders. The Project Lifesaver program places personalized radio transmitters on identified persons with ARMD who may wander away from the safety of their homes. These transmitters assist caregivers and Richland County Sheriff's Officers in locating those who cannot help themselves. Funding for Project Lifesaver is a result of private ad corporate donations and grants. Since Project Lifesaver is comprised of mainly volunteers, donations are used directly for programs, rescues and equipment needed by the user. Richland County Project Lifesaver has been developed in cooperation with eight Lions Clubs (Bellville, Butler, Butler Lioness, Lucas, Madison, Ontario, Mansfield Noon, and Plymouth); Richland County Sheriff's Office, Ohio District 5 Area Agency on Aging, and the Alzheimer Disease and Related Disorder Association, Inc. - Northwest Ohio Chapter.
