Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) | Ohio District 7 Area Agency On Aging

Provides a "benefit card" worth $50 to use in purchasing locally grown fruits, vegetables, fresh honey, and fresh herbs from authorized farmers at farm markets, roadside stands and farm stands.

The 2024 program runs from June 1st through the end of November. Farm market and farm stand hours vary.

Application process

Phone M-F: 8:00am-4:30pm or go to website or email anytime for information. Those who have participated in the past will need to apply again for each growing season. Can download application from website and mail it in. Complete online application or request an application by phoning M-F: 8:00am-4:30pm and leaving name and address and number of applications requested. Agency will mail application and it must be filled out and mailed back. If a downloadable phone app is requested, client will receive an email in 7-10 days stating that it's ready to be downloaded. If a benefit card has been requested, it may take 4-6 weeks to receive in the mail. Farmers will not make change. May use the entire benefit card at one time if one market is desired.

Eligibility

Serves residents of Adams, Brown, Gallia, Highland, Jackson, Lawrence, Pike, Ross, Scioto and Vinton counties, age 60 and older, whose household income is lower than 185% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL).
