Eligibility
Eligibility Applicable to All Loan Types:
  • Serves residents of Northeast Ohio counties of Summit, Medina, Lorain, Portage, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, and Trumbull.
  • Must have the ability to repay the loan on a monthly basis.
  • Contact agency for specific financial requirements.
  • Standard and Education loans require a co-signer.

Application process
  • Visit the website to complete an electronic application.
  • Summit and Medina county residents can schedule an appointment at the FEC for assistance applying for a HFLA loan.

Provides interest-free loans. Includes:
  • Standard Loan of up to $10,000 for people who cannot access traditional financing.
  • Education Loan of up to $5,000 for:
  • Traditional 2 and 4 year degrees
  • Educational Loan of up to $10,000 for:
  • Graduate and post-graduate studies.
  • Certification programs.
  • Trade schools.
  • Coding boot camps and other accredited “short term” programs.
  • Study abroad programs.
Business Loan of up to $20,000. Requires more documentation than other loans. There are agencies that can assist in process. Agency has a Uniform Commercial Code lien against business assets for the duration of the loan.
