Cuyahoga County Witness / Victim Service - Civil Protection Order | Cuyahoga County Public Safety & Justice Services

Provides assistance to those seeking a civil protection order (CPO) by offering information and guidance about the necessary steps in the process. Will also accompany the client to the court hearing. CPOs are available only for certain crimes and are meant to protect the victim in the long term by establishing that there will be no contact between the victim and aggressor. This office does not assist with Temporary Protection Orders which are short term protection orders enforced by the courts to protect witnesses during court proceedings.

Eligibility

Those in Cuyahoga County who are victims of violent crime, domestic abuse or harassment in Cuyahoga County. Crimes must have taken place in the City of Cleveland for misdemeanors and in Cuyahoga County for felonies. Those under 18 need parental consent.
