Wic (WOMEN, INFANTS, CHILDREN) | Darke County Wic
Provides supplemental food vouchers ("nutrition cards," similar to EBT or debit cards), nutrition education, counseling, support and referral services to eligible women, children, fathers, and kinship caregivers. Nursing mothers are provided with information and education on breastfeeding. Also offers speakers who discuss the program and the value of good nutrition and breastfeeding. During the summer also provides a supplemental voucher to each client for fruits and vegetables from selected local growers (Farmers' Market Nutrition Program). These are available while supplies last.

Eligibility
Serves residents of Ohio who are pregnant OR who are postpartum for up to 6 months after the termination of a pregnancy by birth, miscarriage or abortion. Must be on Medicaid or income-eligible. Both mother and child will receive assistance during pregnancy and until the baby reaches 1 year of age. After that, the child will continue to receive food assistance through their 5th birthday. IN ADDITION: those who have custody of a child (including other parents and kinship caregivers) are eligible to receive food assistance for the child through the child's fifth birthday. Those younger than 18 do NOT need parental/guardian permission. Income eligibility guidelines are up to 185% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines that were in effect the previous April 1st. Number in household includes unborn children (Example: A pregnant, single woman is a household of two). Definition of income does NOT include household assets. Individuals receiving Medicaid, Ohio Works First or Food Stamps automatically meet income eligibility. Speakers bureau serves Darke County.
