Application process

Stand at a bus stop or rapid station for service. Now offering mobile ticketing through the RTA app - allows customers to set up a secure account to purchase, save and use tickets for bus and rail trips right from their smartphone. Regular farecards and passes may be purchased on the bus, on the Web site, at local pharmacies, banks, supermarkets, convenience stores, and other outlets, as well as on-site at the Customer Service Satellite office or 24-hours through fare-card machines. Those age 65 or older or those on Medicare can apply for a discount ID card by visiting the Main Office. People with disabilities should call the Senior/Disabled Discount Card information line M-F: 8am-5pm for a discount ID card application, but then after that, must walk in so that a photo for the ID can be taken

Fee

Fixed fee for fares. Discounts are available for people age 65 or older, people with disabilities and those on Medicare. Children (accompanied by an adult) may also travel at special rates. Cash (exact fare), fare cards or tickets are accepted on the bus/rapid lines. Senior/disabled/Medicare discount ID cards that entitle the user to a discount are a minimal fixed fee. Discounted public transportation available to students K-12 as well as those currently enrolled at select colleges, if they place a sticker on their student ID that they show to the driver or turnstile attendant). ADA-certified Paratransit passengers will pay senior/disabled fare on fixed-route service.

Eligibility

No restrictions for regular cards. For a senior/disabled/Medicare discount ID card that entitles one to a discount on regular fare, must be age 65 or older, have a qualifying disability OR be a Medicare recipient.
