Eligibility

Blind or severely visually impaired, legally blind. High school diploma or GED, aged 21. Must be a US citizen and a current resident of Ohio.

Proof of age, citizenship, education records, medical diagnosis.

M-F: 8:00am-5:00pm for all offices.

Fees

Services are paid for in part by monthly charges collected from facility managers.

Provides 16-week (self-paced) employment training program for persons who are blind or severely visually impaired. Program involves management training, food service safety, sanitation, merchandising, customer service, business math, accounting, restaurant law, taxation and vending machine maintenance/repair, as well as on-site work experience. Service includes exam and licensure. Locations are awarded according to agency selection process.

Opportunities For Ohioans With Disabilities

Provides vocational rehabilitation services and social security disability determinations for Ohioans with disabilities. The objective of vocational rehabilitation services is employment. The Bureau of Services for the Visually Impaired (BSVI) and the Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation (BVR) are the two agency bureaus that offer direct service to clients.
