Home Weatherization Assistance Program (HWAP) | Hancock Hardin Wyandot Putnam Community Action Commission

Serves residents of Hancock County who are age 60 or older, have a disabled person in the household, or who have a child age 17 or under in the household. Household income must be 200% or below the federal poverty guidelines. Residence cannot exceed 4 units; multifamily residences must be individually metered. Client may apply for this service once every 5 years.
Copy of all utility bills, proof of income for the last 12 months, and proof of home ownership (if applicable). If renting, client and landlord must sign the Terms of Service agreement attached to the application. Will also need proof of residence (current utility bill) proof of disability and/or proof of minor child living in the household.

Description

Provides assistance to increase the energy efficiency of homes and reduce household energy expenditures. Services include safety inspection of gas appliances, carbon monoxide alarms, education on energy saving, insulation, as well as inspection, repair, and possible replacement of furnace and hot water tank (if warranted), and customer education. Services provided through contracted agencies. Service provided depends on the assessment of the property.
