Eligibility
1. Serves Akron residents who are willing to recycle. 2. Serves Akron homeowners who are eligible for the Home Energy Assistance Program - HEAP. 3. Serves Akron homeowners who have been approved for the Homestead Exemption. The Homestead Exemption is available to homeowners who are age 65 or older OR permanently and totally disabled under the age of 65. 4. Must remain on e-bill only status for 12 months to receive credit.
Required documents
Must provide proof of HEAP acceptance. Homeowners must print or type the following statement on their HEAP letter: "I grant the Ohio Department of Development authorization to release HEAP eligibility information". The homeowner must also place their signature next to the statement. A release form is also available on the city's website and can be attached to a copy of the HEAP approval letter.

Application process
1. RECYCLING DISCOUNT - Call the 311 Contact Center and request a free recycling container. 2. HEAP DISCOUNT - Proof of HEAP acceptance can be provided in person, by fax or by mail. 3. HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION - Call the Business Office and Customer Service to request this discount. Customer Service will verify the customer's eligibility through the County Fiscal Office website. 4. GO GREEN CREDIT OFFER - Must apply for offer through online services at https://h2o.ci.akron.oh.us/iwr/user/login.seam by selecting "Electronic Bill Delivery" under Account Services.

Offers four (4) residential rate discounts: 1. RECYCLING DISCOUNT - All Akron residents are eligible to save $2 per month on their bill by requesting a free recycling container from the 311 Contact Center and by recycling bottles, cans, newspapers, and so forth. 2. HEAP DISCOUNT - Offers a 50% reduction of upcoming sewage rate increases for low-income Akron customers who are accepted for HEAP assistance. 3. HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION DISCOUNT - Offers savings over $8 per month for homeowners who have been approved for the Homestead Exemption. 4. GO GREEN CREDIT OFFER - Offers a one-time credit of $5 for customers who switch from receiving their water/sewer/curb service bill in their mail box to a bill by e-mail.
