The Union County Health Department is now a distributor of the drug, Naloxone, as a part of the Ohio Department of Health's Project DAWN (Deaths Avoided With Naloxone) program. Anyone wishing to get the drug must go through a short training to go over the risk factors and how to use the kit and what follow up maybe necessary.

The UCHD is made up of four divisions: Nursing, Environmental Health, Health Promotion, and Vital Statistics, providing services directly to residents as well as services that protect the community as a whole. The main functions are to prevent the spread of infectious diseases, promote health and safety, and build communities that foster health.
