Eligibility

- Participants must be income-eligible, have nutritional need, and live in Lorain County ( (excluding the City of Vermilion, which is served by Erie County Health Department). - Must also be one of the following: -- Pregnant woman. -- Postpartum woman, up to six (6) months postpartum. -- Breastfeeding woman, up to 12 months postpartum. -- Infant/child up to 5 years old.

Required documents

For full appointments: - WIC Card (and know the PIN number). - Proof of identification (driver's license, state ID, birth certificate, and so forth) for all participants (infant, children, and so forth). - Proof of income (state medical card, check stubs, child support, SSI/SSD, W2s, and so forth). - Proof of address (utility bill, check stub, ID, and so forth). - Proof of pregnancy, if applicable. For card load appointments: - WIC Card (and know the PIN number). - Proof of identification (driver's license, state ID, birth certificate, and so forth).

Application process

Call the WIC office to check eligibility and to schedule an appointment. NOTE: All WIC text messages, including appointment reminders, news/updates, will come from 22300. Clients are automatically enrolled in this texting program while they have WIC. If client has opted out of WIC's text message system, text "alert" to 22300 to re-enroll. If a client has opted out they will no longer receive appointment reminders, farm market voucher information, breastfeeding information, surveys, missed appointment notices, and any other information from the WIC program.

Provides supplemental food vouchers, nutrition education, counseling, support and referral services to eligible women, children, fathers, and kinship caregivers. Nursing mothers are provided with information and education on breastfeeding.
