Must pre-register. Call M-F: 9:00am-5:30pm. Provides ongoing registration, so that participants may join the class at any point in the curriculum. To receive a certificate of completion document, the attendee must attend all 5 weeks. If the attendee misses two or more sessions, the complete course must be repeated. For non-clients the fees must be paid again. There are no refunds of fees.
Fixed fee.Often clients pay nothing based on insurance or a sliding scale based on income.

Description
Provides education regarding the effects on children of witnessing violence and substance abuse, as well as parenting skill development for those with children in these situations. Topics include the impact of violence on child development, characteristics of children who have witnessed violence, family roles, effective discipline, and communication skills. Child care is currently available during classes due to COVID 19. Class meets requirements of local justice systems, county children services agency, hospitals, health centers, and schools. Class is taught by a licensed therapist and is limited to 10 participants.
