Operation Save-A-Life / Sound The Alarm | American Red Cross - Northeast Ohio
Works in conjunction with fire departments to offer free smoke detectors. Only offers information regarding fire departments that are part of this program. The fire departments will install and maintain the smoke detectors for residents in their community. Does not supply smoke alarms to landlords for their rental property. Also goes to at-risk neighborhoods (once a year) and go door to door installing free smoke alarms, replacing batteries in existing alarms, and providing fire prevention and safety education.

Application process
Phone to arrange service anytime. Client will need to leave name, phone number, and address on voice mail. A participating fire department will be return the call to arrange service (usually within a week.) Can also visit website anytime for information.
Fee
Free - limited to three smoke detectors.
Eligibility
Serves residents of Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga and Ashtabula Counties. Renters qualify; however, does not supply smoke alarms to landlords for their rental property.
