Eligibility
Serves ages 16 and over who are not currently enrolled in school.
Required documents
To take the Ohio GED test, must be officially withdrawn from school and be 19 years of age or older. Exceptions to the age requirement must provide forms and documentation as follows: Form submission for GED test-takers ages 16 and 17, which includes home-school students who are not affiliated with publicly funded online schools such as K-12, Ohio Virtual Academy, and related schools:
  • A copy of the current year withdrawal form signed by the administrator
and
  • Original Consent Form signed and notarized from either the parent, guardian, or court official. Must include copies of Guardianship or Court documents.
Form submission for GED Testers age 18:
  • A copy of the current year withdrawal form signed by the administrator.

Application process
  • Visit www.GED.com to register, schedule, and pay for the test.
  • Ages 16 to 18 must provide required documentation before registering for the GED test. Forms can be found at http://education.ohio.gov. All forms and documents must be mailed to: Ohio Department of Education, State of Ohio GED Office, 25 South Front Street, MS 622, Columbus, Ohio 43215.
Fees
$36 per test, totaling $144 for four (4) required sub-tests. First time test takers are eligible for a state-issued $80 voucher.
