Provides assistance to low-income persons who are appealing the denial, reduction, termination, and/or overpayment of county, state, and/or federal public benefits such as (OWF or Ohio Works First); Disability Medical Assistance (DMA); Medicaid; Prevention, Retention, and Contingency (PRC); Healthy Start; Food Stamps; Social Security; Medicare; Supplemental Security Income (SSI); and other public benefit programs.

Phone the Legal Aid Line of Western Ohio: M-F: 9:00am-4:00pm for information and to determine eligibility. When you call, you will be asked to enter your telephone number for an automated call back. Eligibility
Does not help with initial application process. Gross household income of 125% of current federal poverty guidelines or below, but will evaluate clients with gross incomes up to 200% of current federal poverty guidelines. Will consider expenses such as childcare, transportation, and health care as well as certain assets when determining financial eligibility for service. Income and asset limits do not apply to persons age 60 or older. Service is limited by availability of staff and funding - there is no guarantee that a lawyer will be available to take a client's case. Lima Office serves Allen, Auglaize, Hardin, and Mercer counties. Defiance office serves Van Wert, Defiance, Fulton, Henry, Paulding, Putnam, and Williams counties.
