Eligibility

- Serves youth who are living with a family member or non-relative who have legal custody on or after July 1st, 2005. - Having Power of Attorney (POA) does NOT qualify. - Child must reside with relative. - Child and caregiver must live in Harrison County. - Household income, including all minor children, may not exceed 300% of Federal Poverty Guideline Level.

- Verification of legal custody. - Proof of income.

- Available by phone Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm. - Application available online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

- Call the office to request application. May leave message after hours. - Process includes completing an approved agency home study to include criminal background check and fingerprints for all adult household members and a safety audit of the household.

Description

Provides short term, time-limited payments to relative caregivers who have obtained permanent legal custody of a child. Not emergency assistance. Payments are designed to reimburse the initial costs associated with taking a relative's child/ren into the home. Availability determined by state budget and availability of funds.
