Temporary Financial Assistance For Veterans | Harrison County Veterans Service Commission
Provides financial assistance up to $1,000 a year to eligible Veterans, spouses, dependant children and widows who have demonstrated a need. These benefits may include assistance with paying utility bills or the provision of food.

Eligibility
- Veteran must have served in the U.S. Armed Forces, have been on active duty for reasons other than training, or have received a VA recognized service-connection disability AND were discharged under HONORABLE conditions. - Qualified Veterans and family members must be residents of the State of Ohio and residing in Harrison County for three (3) months immediately prior to application for financial assistance. - To be eligible for financial assistance, a definite need must be demonstrated. The wording of the law states that assistance is intended for the 'indigent," meaning Veterans suffering a level of poverty in which real hardship and deprivation are suffered and comforts of life are lacking.
