CHILD CARE ASSISTANCE/REFERRALS | MUSKINGUM COUNTY JOB AND FAMILY SERVICES
Types of Child Care: 1. Child Care Centers: Your child receives care in a setting designed for groups of children. Child care centers are licensed by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services or the Ohio Department of Education. 2. Family Child Care Homes: • Type B Homes: Anyone can operate a Type B Home without a license. However, care for more than six children requires a license. Type B Homes must be licensed by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services if the child care is paid for with public funds. • Licensed Type B Homes: Your child is cared for in the home of a family child care provider who has met state minimum health and safety requirements and is licensed by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. • Type A Homes: Your child is cared for in the home of a family child care provider who is licensed by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. The family child care provider may care for seven to twelve children (or four to twelve children if four children are under two years of age). The family child care provider's own children under six years of age must be included in the total count.
