The Park District works at conserving natural areas, providing passive and active recreational opportunities, and developing an appreciation of the natural, historical, and cultural heritage of the area. Parks located in the Muskingum Valley Park District: - Collegial Woods is a passive park located on the northern portion of the Ohio University-Zanesville (OUZ) and Zane State College campus on Newark Road. - Bailey and AEP Property site is currently undeveloped and a goal of the Muskingum Valley Park District is to develop a master plan with input from local residents. - Gale Garden ia a serene green space in an historic residential community for resting the weary body and renewing the harried mind and spirit. Located in the McIntire Historic District of Zanesville, Ohio. - McGraw Edison Recreation Area is an 80 acre park located nine miles east of Zanesville on Park Lane in Perry Township. - Meadow Springs Farm property was bequeathed to the Muskingum Valley Park District by Miss Bernice Delong for the establishment of Meadow Springs Farm. - Mission Oaks Gardens is a beautiful urban garden located in Zanesville, Ohio. What makes this garden unique is its unassuming nature. - Muskingum Recreational Trail is approximately six miles of asphalt trail connecting the Village of Dresden in Jefferson Township to Rock Cut Road in Muskingum Township.

Dedicated to improving the quality of life through education, conservation, and the utilization of green space.The District is overseen by Park Commisioners; Brian Newton, Ed Shaffer, Karen Lee, Bill Balderson and James McDonald. The Park Commissioners meetings are scheduled for the first Tuesday of each month at 7pm at the Park District office. Occasional conflicts require deviation from this schedule so please call to confirm.
